About Us

Jonathan and rachel van horn

Thanks for visiting the Van Horn Connection, our site is designed to introduce you to the Jonathan and Rachel Van Horn as well as update you on our ministry with Athletes in Action. AIA is a non-profit Christian sports organization whose mission is to build spiritual movements everywhere through the platform of sport, so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus Christ.  I work with professional soccer players in North America as the Associate National Director of Pro Soccer.

My responsibility is to oversee the ministry league wide, which includes networking with pro players and coaches as well as recruiting, resourcing, managing and training volunteers and/or AIA staff to work as a chaplain with the pro teams and be a resource for the players and club as a whole.  In addition to league wide oversight, I also minister locally with North Carolina FC by mentoring pro players and leading chapels and team Bible studies.

We also minister locally on the college campus of University of North Carolina by mentoring, investing and helping student athletes in their faith journey through personal mentoring, team Bible studies and a weekly gathering. It is our desire to see those involved and influenced through sport, specially soccer, to hear the words of Jesus Christ as we play our role in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)

I am married to my beautiful wife, Rachel and we have served with AIA together for over 10 years.  We first met at Ohio Wesleyan University at a Bible study on campus, a few years later we were walking down the aisle to get married.  We then ministered on the campus of The Ohio State University and Ohio Wesleyan University for 4 years and have been ministering within professional soccer for over a decade.  We have three wonderful little girls that keep us on our toes: Nora, Ellery and Clara and we live to Cary, NC.

It is our desire to see those involved and influenced through sport, specially soccer, to hear the words of Jesus Christ as we play our role in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
